MrMatty Teen, 15 years old. This title has: Educational value. Great messages. Great role models. Helpful Report Report this review. SussyBaka87 Teen, 13 years old. This is another horror movie I watched since Norm of the North and this time, it is bad. After my grandpa went into a coma after watching "Old", this movie made my year old sister get coal for Christmas last year and drink all of my chocolate milkshakes.

What did Norm of the North do? They send my kids away! Monster Family is even more worse than Norm of the North they made my son, Jimmy fail school. Please don't watch this movie, nor Norm of the North nor Monster Family, they all cause natural disasters.

This title has: Too much violence. Teen, 13 years old. Kid, 9 years old. This ruined the Home Alone franchise! Just some stupid jokes! This is one of the worst Home Alone films ever! The first is way better than this! I think that it is not to bad. There are many funny jokes.

The badass Kevin from the originals was reduced to some whiny, 5 year old crybaby. His parents were now in the middle of a divorce, which was very painful to him. Uh, when the hell was the Home Alone series ever about divorce? At one point Kevin's father mentions that his family always stays up to watch "It's a Wonderful Life" because it's one of their traditions.

Funny, I never remembered seeing that tradition in the previous movies. Marv of the Wet Bandits was back, but he too was completely changed. The real Marv was a goofy moron, while this guy was a grumpy grouch it looked like the writers got him mixed up with his partner Harry from the originals.

Harry was gone, replaced by Marv's fat, whiny wife. When the hell was Marv ever married? The jokes were lame and unfunny, and because the movie was made by Disney, there was also very little violence. The original Kevin hurled bricks and he laid complex systems of traps involving fire, electricity, and sharp objects. The new Kevin never even had a plan in this movie, and he resorted to such wimpy tactics as locking a burglar into an elevator, and using prerecorded messages to fool the others.

Nothing in this movie, from its attitude to its characters, resembles the originals. It really fails to recapture the greatness of the movies that preceded it. In a way, I guess that's a good thing. The lack of continuity makes it easier for us to just forget about this piece of trash. The first 2 Home Alone films were very successful in the early 90s. At this point Macaulay Culkin was one of the most sought after child actors in the business. However his success was short-lived and is now only known for his part in the Michael Jackson trial.

The makers must have thought that Home Alone 3 was going to be as big a success. However the makers didn't realise that a new child star and a different formula was not what the viewing public craved. However regardless of this the third installment was a moderate success and actually was't that bad. Then in some bright spark decided to unleash another sequel onto the unsuspecting public. To make matters worse they decided to use the same character names and as a result Kevin McCallister looks even younger than he was in part 1.

Combine this with the fact that he was't even "home alone" once during the whole film and you will see why the film is so bad. Worse still the acting is terrible and the ending so predictable you can guess what is going to happen from the opening scene. Avoid this at all costs as the first 3 which were by no means flawless are classics in comparison. Macaulay- who is probably sitting at home after watching this and going why?

I liked, no, loved, the first two Home Alone movies. Why, I ask you They should at least stay with the original actors, and it could have Kevin be like 20 years old, and visiting his father for Christmas. Pjte 15 August I'm not exaggerating I saw this years ago when I was a child and exactly the target demographic for this film and it was for a long time the worst film I had ever seen. There is absolutely no need for this film. The original still stands up today, this never did.

It tries to imitate the original and 'modernise' elements of the story but it doesn't capture any of the magic of the original. Few films have ever annoyed me so much. Avoid watching this at all costs and rewatch the original instead if you want a Home Alone fix. Home Alone 4, a made for TV sequel to Home Alone 1 and 2 part 3 had a different story line just doesn't make the cut. The casting for Kevin and his brother and sister were terrible.

The kids look younger and even in the film Kevin states he is 9 years old, where in the first two he was older, however he remembers one of the burgulars from before. Marv, played by French Stuart this time around, has a new partner, Vera, who isn't any brighter than Marv. They decided to cancel the Harry character, originally played by Joe Pesci, even though they do reference him a few times.

Now, Kevin's parents are about to finalize their divorce. His father lives in a huge smart house mansion with his girlfriend Natalie and Kevin stays over for Christmas. But Marv and Vera show up with a new plan - kidnapping. Home Alone 4 makes a failed attempt of returning to the Kevin McCallister storyline, but they were better off using new characters.

I wanna cry, I wanna gouge my eyes out, no! Better yet, I will gouge the eyes out of all the people who were involved in this trashy mess of a movie. I was babysitting and we were looking for something to watch on TV and Home Alone 4 was on, my cousin loved the first Home Alone and so do I, so we both thought that this might be fun to watch, that it would be a completely different story, instead, we have a really really really bad sequel.

Not is it just a sequel, the kid is younger than Kevin McCallister in the first film, not only that, his family is reduced to two siblings, not only that, Marv is back and he's not only still an idiot, he's an idiot trying to be a genius. This is a sequel that is useless, has no point, in fact, should have never existed. The story is mediocre and a total waste, it was probably written by five year olds, no, wait, that's an insult towards five year olds.

Kevin had another fight with his mom and goes over to his dad's house for the holiday's. Kevin of course must stop them, but no one will believe him and he has to do all the work on his own then out of no where his step mom becomes evil. But overcoming her and the "villains" is going to be really easy considering how much of bumbling mumbling morons they are.

This isn't a movie, it's not a family movie, this is just a sad excuse of a story. This was just a waste of a sequel and anyone who was involved in it should seriously stop taking drugs because they had to be doing drugs or were very much starving since this story is just so bad. The acting is horrendous, the story is horrifying, and the movie is just down right terrifying, so sad, I want my 90 minutes back!

I just want to at least stop crying, is that too much to ask? I think not. UniqueParticle 6 September The script is atrocious and so are the actors! I don't Know how this even got made it doesn't follow the story at all. It's only a little sweet and mildly entertaining otherwise it's one of the worst films ever made! SnoopyStyle 19 December It's the first Christmas since Kevin McCallister's parents separated.

He lives with his mother Kate Clare Carey and two siblings. His father Peter Jason Beghe plans to marry his rich girlfriend Natalie Joanna Going and wants the kids to spend time with her. Kevin refuses at first. After continued abuse by his brother, Kevin decides to sneak away to his father. The mansion is high tech. With his wife Vera Missi Pyle , they plan to kidnap a visiting Prince. Kevin fights them off again and again but nobody believes him.

The McCallisters seem to have lost a bunch of the kids. The new Kevin has the required cuteness and a bit of mischief. Having the parents separated puts a damper on any fun in the movie. The reunion is fully expected. It has too many moments trying to be serious. The tone is all wrong. Stewart and Pyle try their best to be wacky.

It is stupid but not in a fun way. Even a simple thing like set design is weak. Natalie is supposed to be rich but the decor looks cheap. This is a sad continuation of a failing franchise. At this point I realized that the producers were really trying for this to be a follow-up to the two Culkin pictures and then I had to scratch my head and wonder why the Kevin here was so much younger than the one played by Culkin in the first two films. That there should have been a dead give away that this here was trash but if that didn't convince you then the rest of the film should.

I'm really not sure if this or part three were worse as they were both bad but this one here just comes across as extremely lazy and boring. Perhaps young kids might enjoy this since they really wouldn't know any better but parents are going to see this thing for what it is and it's just a cheap, lazy and poorly executed movie.

There's no laughs, no adventure and nothing else really. Once we get to the scenes of the burglars getting their heads beat in you're going to either already be asleep or simply not caring what happens. Even the stunts here are pretty poor. Weinberg isn't that bad in the role of Kevin but the screenplay gives his zero help. Stewart is incredibly annoying in his role and none of the other supporting players really help much.

LilacPrincess 28 December And you can most likely guess the plot Marv [French Stewart] is back along with his new accomplice Vera To rob his house once again. The plot is weak and the story drags on and does not make sense for the following reasons: 1:None of the original actors are in it and what happened to Harry? My conclusion is that this is a complete waste of time watching and making they have not even tried to get characters to look like they did in the 1st films even though there different actors but thats not the point!

Number Three was bad enough but number four was just a lame excuse for bad actors to star in films,i hope the filmmakers know what they have done!!!!!!!! They have crossed the line!!!! TheMunkeyBoy 12 November Pretty poor script and delivery. Terribly written script, poorly edited and put together. May have scored an extra star if they had come up with original characters instead of using all the character names from the original movie with new actors but different background and family circumstances.

Home Alone 4 is certainly one of the worst films I have ever seen. Actually, I saw it as a dare with a friend - he promised to see another bad movie, while I was left with HA4. This movie is so terrible, it will either: Turn you into a child hater, because this kid is so obnoxious, you'll very soon want to get inside the TV and smack him. Or turn you into a psychic and you'll be able to see things before they happen, because the script is so predictable.

Dragoneyed 15 January I am so ashamed to admit that I thought this would actually be decent from the way it started. I had loved the first two in the series, as have most people, and though the third wasn't near as charming, it was still rather enjoyable, and so I had somewhat expected this to be in some way redeeming to the three before it. Home Alone 4 is an utter failure. I was only going to watch it in the first place because my friend told me how terrible it was, and of course after I saw the rating on IMDb and heard more about it, I believed him and all others a little, but still couldn't completely cast my opinion until I viewed the film for myself.

He, and everyone else, was right. This sucks, badly. It's not anywhere near humorous, but entirely annoying and upsetting. The characters are lame and have no likable features nor any compensating qualities and they all were stale and useless. The acting became extremely poor at points, and it of course was never really worthy of being called definitive acting to begin with.

Everything about this movie was horrendous except that it entertains at times for how unsettling it really is and how nerve wracking it manages to be. I kind of had a soft spot for the mother, kind of, because she was a somewhat interesting and worthwhile addition, I believe, but notice I didn't say character, because her character was still lacking in most everything, and I really don't know why I see her as an upside, but here again, it still isn't enough to make me raise my appreciation for the film, but just more for her presence, in general.

All in all, don't watch this if you have yet to and spare yourself the agony. I know I will never watch it again, as I took in all I needed to the first time around. I don't know where to begin with this movie. Honestly, I don't. I've never reviewed any title before, this is my first and this movie is so awful I felt obligated to warn people about it.

Until I read the other reviews, I was completely unaware this was meant to be another sequel to the original two. I thought they'd simply gotten lazy with the names. But no, evidently this is meant to be an addition to the first pair. I have made it fifteen minutes and that's it. I've turned off my TV. They didn't even try. The acting is horrible, stilted and over the top at the same time. Let's all admit that while the originals are great, there's a level of cartoonist behavior.

That's part of the appeal, watching irons, paint cans and so forth smash the bad guys in the face without incident. But this

User reviews Review. Top review. Slightly, remotely funny. It's no secret that many despise Home Alone 3. At least it had some kind of technical proffesionalism behind it. The first 2 and a bit of the 3rd movies also benefited from a very strong musical score that elevated them far beyond a typical family comedy. Home Alone 4 however has an extremely cheap score and feels rushed and empty. The very lean running time means there is no house full of traps, not a lot of plot to be wrapped up and no emotional pay-off.

So what's it to be? Dad's girlfriend's house or New York? Plus Marv is played by French Stewart who didn't even bother to grow a beard for the part and the rest of the cast is a bunch of unknowns. And it's obvious this was not filmed anywhere near winter, the lack of snow robs the film further of any Xmas-y feel it might have had.

And what's with the constant, terrible ADR? It's very distracting. There were some funny parts to this film and the new kid playing Kevin did it well. But the hand-held camera thingy, the bare sets and lack of anything to do with Xmas make this film look like a poverty-stricken TV movie. The DVD is in 1. CuriosityKilledShawn May 7, FAQ 6.

Marv and Vera run back into the house and pursue Kevin, who accidentally ruins the party by running into the guests and knocking over an ice sculpture that turns out to be a frozen Mr. Angered, Peter sends Kevin to his room, refusing to believe his story and accusing him of trying to sabotage his relationship with Natalie, who threatens to evict him if he misbehaves again.

Taking matters into his own hands, Kevin sets up booby traps for Marv and Vera. The next morning, the duo head to the house after Peter and Natalie go to pick up the royals. Kevin tricks and locks Mr. Prescott in the basement, but eventually discovers Marv and Vera's real ally is Molly, who is also Marv's mother.

Kevin gets locked in the basement with Mr. Prescott, who admits that he turned off the cameras during the initial break-in as he was taking an unscheduled break from his duties because he despises Natalie, let alone working for her; he and Kevin then apologize for misjudging each other. After several failed attempts to call Kate, Kevin escapes via the house's dumbwaiter and temporarily traps Marv underneath it.

Marv and Vera pursue Kevin through the house, where they spring the traps and suffer various injuries, while Molly gets trapped in the house's elevator. At the airport, Peter suspects that something is wrong back at the house with Kevin and takes a cab back to Natalie's to check on him. Kate, Buzz, and Megan also drive to the mansion due to the suspicious nature of the calls received by Kevin himself and Molly. Kevin uses an altered recording of Marv's voice to provoke an argument between him and Vera, and knocks them down a flight of stairs with a remote-controlled plane.

The duo is then tricked by Kevin with a secret wall switch, end up being launched onto a chandelier, and are knocked unconscious by their fall. Molly, having escaped, grabs Kevin, but is quickly knocked out by Mr. Prescott who also escaped via the dumbwaiter shaft and calls the police. The royal family and Natalie arrive, and the offenders' plot to kidnap the prince is revealed to Natalie's shock.

Prescott, per Kevin's advice, resigns from his position as her butler. Realizing that their relationship was built on infatuation rather than love and was affecting his responsibilities as a husband and father, Peter breaks up with Natalie, and reconciles with Kate and their children.

Grateful to Kevin for his foiling of the kidnapping plot, the royals spend Christmas with the newly-reunited McCallisters, devastating Natalie as Kevin and Prescott give the commands for music to play and snow to fall. Daniel Stern , who previously portrayed Marv Murchins in the first two Home Alone films was approached to reprise his role, but declined after reading the original script.

The film premiered on television on November 3, , and was released on home video on September 2, Clint Morris at Moviehole gave the film one out of five stars, writing, "From the unappealing cheapish opening titles to the murky production values, it's immediately obvious Home Alone 4 isn't playing in the same park as its beloved predecessor The film stars Christian Martyn as year-old main character Finn Baxter. The story centers on the family's relocation from California to Maine, where Finn becomes convinced that his new house is haunted.

When his parents become stranded across town and Finn is left home alone with his older sister Alexis, he sets traps to catch his new home's ghosts, which instead prove troublesome for a group of thieves played by Malcolm McDowell , Debi Mazar , and Eddie Steeples. It was the last film that Rod Daniel directed before his subsequent retirement partly due to his diagnosis from Parkinson's disease , complications of which resulted in his death in Peter McCallister, who is finalizing a divorce from his wife, Kate, announces to their children, Buzz, Megan and Kevin that he and his wealthy girlfriend, Natalie Kalban, are hosting the visit of a royal family at her mansion, and invites them to spend Christmas there.

Kevin discovers that the security cameras were turned off during the break-in, leading him to believe that Mr. Prescott is in league with Marv and Vera. To cheer themselves up, Kevin, Peter and Natalie decorate their Christmas tree, although it is later re-trimmed by professional decorators at Natalie's request.

As the mansion is prepared for a party for the royal family's arrival, Peter and Natalie go to pick them up, while Kevin notices Marv and Vera disguised as caterers. He traps Mr. Prescott in the freezer, overhears Marv and Vera's plan to kidnap the prince for ransom, and forces them out of a window. The royal family is unable to attend the party because their flight was canceled, so Peter and Natalie decide to announce their engagement instead.
